Ayam Penyet Ria at Square 2

We've been so busy working on GoThere, it provided us with an excuse to indulge ourselves in some sinful, deep-fried food. If you're thinking of KFC, you're wrong. But you're not too far away! Anyway, we realize that Ayam Penyet Ria had a new branch at Square 2, right smack at Novena MRT from one of the contributers at GoThere and thus, we decided to head there for lunch since we were both in the area, and in the need for deep fried food for the soul.

The place is quite hidden, most would probably miss it if they weren't specficially looking for it. It's quite hidden at the corner of the entrance to the MRT. It's the entrance nearer to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Here's our smashed chicken.

You can even ask for more crispy deep fried bits.

We've tried the branch at Lucky Plaza before, and found that the branch at Square 2 was pretty much up to their typical standard. The chicken was really crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. And as usual, their chilli is fiery hot. Admittedly, I'm not a chilli fan but I take my chilli as and when they come, but theirs is not one to be trifled with. We thought the tempe and tau kua was quite dry though.

On the whole, it's not something to shout out about unless you're a big fan of fried chicken (which we are), but it offers pretty good value at $6.50. It's also less greasy than KFC, so we'd like to think that we're eating healthier.

We've provided links on where you can find the various places mentioned in this blog entry so click away if you're interested in finding this particular Ayam Penyet Ria outlet, or maybe any KFC outlets.

It's been a few days since we opened up our doors to everyone and honestly, we've been really encouraged by the response! We'd like to thank everyone of you who has provided us with all that wonderful feedback, contributed new locations and left your precious comments so far. We'll definitely try to work with all that valuable feedback and see how we can improve GoThere further.

In the meantime, watch out for more updates and improvements. And keep all that feedback, comments and contributions coming! :)

Myanmar Cyclone Disaster

This has been plastered all over the news this couple of days since Cyclone Nargis hit Myanmar and left more than 23,000 dead and 42,000 missing.

Individual donations aside, we thought it'd only be right if we did our part by helping to spread word about the relief efforts currently underway in Singapore. We've added a list of places like the Singapore Red Cross that are currently taking in donations, both cash and in kind. We've also included directions on how to get there from where ever you may be, so please do make your way down to the nearest location if you want to chip in.

Come to think of it, Myanmar isn't really that far away.

Our first post

Some time back, we caught this tv commercial for a certain science fiction drama series. The commercial was quite cool in the sense that it had flashbacks of a series of really cool equations. one of them really struck us though. Here's how it goes.

Life - Dreams = Job

GoThere is really about us trying to debunk this equation. It's about us trying to live out our dream of holding a job that involves building something meaningful and sustainable for the local community.

This is our first post so we thought it'd be nice to start the ball rolling with a really short introduction about ourselves.

We feel that finding things in Singapore should be easy. As such, we devote ourselves to making things easier for everyone. For now, that involves helping everyone get from point A to point B without getting lost, as well as helping everyone find the nearest chicken rice, second hand bookshop or even the bicycle repair shop.

All this would not have been possible without a bunch of chumps that have painstakingly helped us locate and contribute a whole bunch of addresses and places for a start. We really hope to involve everyone in this project though. So if there's something you think everyone should know of or if you think we've made a mistake somewhere (which isn't impossible considering the eye fatigue we get from staring at our computer screens most of the day, everyday), do help us by contributing!
