Print directions!

We heard your requests for a print friendly version of our directions and here it is!

The print friendly version include nifty mini maps nicely laid out next to each step. We have also added bus stop numbers so you can check that you are at the right stop. Apart from the step by step directions, we have also included an area that allows you to include personal notes on the printout. For example, you can include a condensed summary of how you would get there, and rely on the step by step directions for reference. Or you could include relevant information about the destination such as surrounding landmarks or the unit number. Just type it in and print it out!

This is probably not the most environmentally friendly thing we've done, and we do feel a little bad about it. But we also understand that there are places that are difficult to reach, and sometimes it's just impossible to retain the directions in memory. So, we figured that the reduced petrol use from not getting lost would help make up for the extra paper prints. Alternatively, you can use our mobile version on the go!

Make me stop!

Ok we realize that some of us might not like the idea of the map tail-gating you on your screen as you scroll up and down the browser window. And we also know that some of you actually, on the contrary, like the feature. As such, we've provided you with the option to do both. It's not a big deal, but we've received some comments about this and decided to do something about it. Try it!

GoThere Mobile & Today feature

We got up this morning to find ourselves being featured on Today in an article titled "Content before profits" which really made our day. Thanks Esther, for writing about us! Hopefully, more people can find out about us and benefit from GoThere! While being featured on Today is great, we're actually even happier receiving all that positive feedback and comments after the E27 Unconference, both through our email and within the blogosphere. We'll definitely be racking our brains to see how we can further improve your user experience.

In the meantime, check out the mobile version of GoThere at http://gothere.sg/m.

Here's how it looks like.

We've optimized the mobile version so that it loads quickly on your mobile phones, thus providing you with quick, fuss-free directions on the go.

You can click on the links for basic map displays to help you out in getting your bearings around as well as to get a better picture of the suggested routes.

Don't fret if you're wondering if this only works on an iPhone. The mobile version of GoThere should work on all mobile phones that can access the Internet. In the meantime, do try it out on your mobile phones and PDAs and let us know what you think!

E27 Unconference 2008

We're at the E27 Unconference 2008 right about....now! GoThere will be part of a lineup of start-ups that will be showcasing our products and services. We'll also be doing a pitch later on in the afternoon, along with many other cool and innovative start-ups. Check out the E27 Unconference Singapore 2008 homepage for more details!

ERP Woes

It never rains but it pours for the car drivers in Singapore.

ERP woes are piling on top of the relentless spike in petrol pump prices. I shall try to put the latest reviews in a nutshell.

1. Driving to CBD just got more expensive on weekday afternoons and it will extended to 8pm instead of 7pm previously. (Maybe you have to start reserving seats at the swanky restaurants from 830pm now.) The charging structure also just got more complicated.....

2. Heading to Orchard area on Saturday? Make your trip earlier and enter before 11am because ERP will strike you earlier instead of 12pm previously...

3. 5 new gantries have been set up along Fullerton Road, South Bridge Road, New Bridge Road and Eu Tong Sen Street (Bringing the total number of gantries to 65). This will cut up the CBD into 2 areas : The commercial area around Raffles Place and the shopping area around Bugis-Marina. Be prepared to pay if you are traveling across the zones on a weekday evening.

MORE BAD NEWS: Now you have to pay on Saturdays 12.30pm - 8pm to enter the shopping area of Bugis-Marina. Exit Marina Square, enter Vivocity on a Saturday afternoon...

4. The next review is due on Nov 3rd, and there are currently 6 planned gantries that will be sprouting out on that day, bringing it to a total of 71 gantries. So like it or not, stay tuned for the next update.
