Now with embeddable maps!

Many people have asked us if they can embed our maps a la YouTube-style onto their own websites.

We're glad to announce you can do just that. Presenting, embeddable Gothere maps! You can now have our maps on your own website. You can drag and zoom in and out of the maps. Here are some of the many things you can do on our embedded maps. Interact with the pins, they show information about a particular place. Click on a bus stop and find out what buses are plying a particular road. Clicking on a car park will show you the parking rates, nifty for finding the cheapest car park around a particular location. You can even read and add comments on a place such as a restaurant, bicycle shop, or even a lucky 4D/toto outlet. And you can do all these right from your website!

We think it's really exciting and cool and we can't wait to see what you can do with it. Here are some stuff that we thought of.

You can get a map to tell people how to get from A to B. Useful for moving people during events. Be careful not to disclose your daily travel routine.

Wouldn't it be great if you can show your family and friends where your next party or housewarming event is at. You can also use it to help your clients locate your office. Or you can just use it to point out any building in Singapore.

Here's our favourite one, given the large number of food bloggers in Singapore. You can recommend a food place and people won’t be asking you where it is, cos’ now you can just show them! And they can even find out how to get there straight from your website. Hey, you can also tell people about that particular lucky toto outlet!

If you are a shop owner, you can also use our embedded maps to show where your outlets are located and help your customers get there easily. Convenient, isn't it? Here are the Carl's Junior outlets in Singapore. Pretty useful for retail store owners everywhere!

The possibilities don’t end here. We believe our users will find many more creative uses for our embeddable maps.

Most importantly, you don’t have to be a code monkey to embed our maps! It's easy and we’re going to show you just how.

  1. Go to a map as you normally would on , do a search or a directions query.
  2. Click on the embed maps link on the top right.

  3. Choose a size that you like.

  4. Paste the resulting html code on your website and you’re done!

Now, wasn't that easy?

Redesign - step one!

After many sleepless nights, curses over some small, obscure web browser by the name of "Internet Explorer" and the usual share of blood, sweat and tears, we were finally able to launch the new design for the website early on Wednesday morning.

The redesign has, in this step, been mostly about making facelifts, and not so much about introducing new features. We didn't want to make drastic changes to the interface that our users are already familiar with, just make the user experience more fun. An important part was also also to, with the help of colours and contrast, make the more important information more prominent.

We see this redesign as a first step in the gothere rebranding process, and we very much value the input of our users. We've already tried to make changes based on early feedback (thanks, Nimbupani, we love you - platonically), and we'll definitely do our best to implement any good suggestions we get.

Thanks for your continued support.
